My name is Jeremy Almarode and I'm the founder of Mountain Heights Training. I appreciate your interest in the company and would like to share with you a little about myself. I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. My love for the outdoors began as a child and with my involvement with the Boy Scouts, growing rapidly into a passion. I spent countless days and nights in the outdoors, both during the summer and dead of winter. At the age of eighteen, I joined the Bridgewater Tactical Rescue Team, followed several years later by a commitment to the Fire Service where I spent 17 years protecting and serving. It was during this time that I became interested in Canine Search and Rescue, and when I discovered both my desire to help others and my passion for the outdoors converged. Since that time I have spent 10+ years as a canine handler. I have trained and certified with multiple canines under the disciplines of Live Find Search, Human Remains Land and Water, and Human Remains Crime Scene, all the while working and training outdoors.
The skills and certifications I had obtained over the years led me to the natural progression of educating and training others for Search and Rescue Operations and Wilderness Survival. As a result, Mountain Heights Training was formed.
Every aspect of the training we offer, from navigation skills to first aid, could ultimately make the difference between life and death for the individual(s) being rescued. While we initially train for proficiency, we constantly strive for mastery.
